Cafe OTO

Cafe OTO is an lovely relaxed japanese cafe, in the old Reeves paint factory, near Dalston Junction.

The coffee is really good and they stock Kernel brewery products including their own version, OTO ale, alongside Pitfield ales.

Roof-top garden

The veg survived the transition and is now flourishing in the British summer weather up on the roof.

I took these pics in one of those moment of glorious sunshine that pepper the heavy summer rain showers.

The Ginger Pig Meat book

A lovely gift from someone who is more obsessed with food than I am.

So far we’ve only made the Chilli Sausages with beans, but it was AMAZING!

Alas, we did not eat in Noma,‘The best restaurant in the world – 2011′.

We just peered through the window…

If you do wish to dine here, you’ll need to book THREE MONTHS in advance! On Monday the 11th of July, at 10 a.m, they will start taking reservations for October. But be warned, the reservations for September were all snapped up in just 17 minutes!

The Kernel Brewery

Druid street (brilliant name for a street) in SE1 seems an unlikely place to buy fine ales, but if you turn up the dank and dreary looking Millstream Road, you’ll find the entrance is just around the back.

You’ll also find St John’s Bakery, Monmouth Coffee and many other cheese, veg and charcuterie stalls here.

The best local in Kings Cross

Wherever you are living, or even staying briefly somewhere new, it’s always satisfying to find a really good local boozer.

This has to be the biggest and most impressive ‘local’ we have ever had. I don’t think I will ever tire of sipping champagne and enjoying the sounds and sights and smells of Kings Cross International Station.

Simply breath taking…
